A connection with the physicality and intellectual rigor of making objects is demonstrated through an ever growing importance of labor through each pinch found within the vessels that I make. Exhibited through a pinch-mark landscape, smooth surfaces, as well as flat and broken color, I am interested in the juxtaposition created within each vessel. This juxtaposition is then exposed through each contrasted element of my pots. My work’s primary use is that of a utilitarian object, but one in which creates an awareness of the subconscious relationship between hands and object. I, as a maker, would like to command attention to create a different type of relationship between the viewer and object through the slow and intimate process of exposing the maker's hand and the rigorous process of pinching visual landscapes.
